The Leventis Foundation (Nigeria) Ltd/Gte is a Non-profit, Non-Governmental and Charitable Organization whose main focus is promotion of agriculture and rural development through the training of youths in modern and sustainable farming methods. The Foundation programmes are in support of the Federal Government policy and efforts on Agricultural Development and Poverty Alleviation.

Presently, the Foundation has six Agricultural Training Schools in Nigeria (and plans to have more). The Schools are located in Osun, Ondo, Kaduna, Kano, Gombe States and the FCT. The Foundation, over the years offers quality practical training in small and large scale agriculture in broad technical and administrative areas such as:

1.0 Technical and Training Department

  • Crop production & Agroforestry
  • Animal/Livestock Production
  • Agricultural Economics/Extension
  • Agricultural Engineering

To this end, there are staff vacancies in the above departments for candidates with proven practical farming skills and hands-on experience who fit into the departmental activities mentioned above as

  1. Trainers
  2. Assistant Trainers
  3. Supervisors

1.1 Trainers in:

1.1.1 Crop Production and Agroforestry

Requirements

  • MSc Agronomy/Crop production
  • Minimum of 5 years (minimum of 8 & 10 Years for B.Sc and HND respectively) relevant job experience

1.1.2 Animal/ Livestock Production

Requirements

  • MSc Animal/Livestock production
  • Minimum of 5 years (minimum of 8 & 10 Years for B.Sc and HND respectively) relevant job experience

1.1.3 Agricultural Economics/Extension

Requirements

  • MSc Agricultural Economics/Extension
  • Minimum of 5 years (minimum of 8 & 10 Years for B.Sc and HND respectively) relevant job experience

1.1.4 Agricultural Engineering

Requirements

  • MSc Agricultural Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years (minimum of 8 & 10 Years for B.Sc and HND respectively) relevant job experience

Job Description

  • Report to and work closely with the Principal
  • Implement LFN training strategy and deliver on its objectives
  • Partake in curriculum review and development
  • Training Students/Trainees both in theory and practical.
  • Supervise jobs on both training and schools commercial farms
  • Partake in the successful implementation of LFN programmes and activities
  • Partake in day-to-day operations of the school
  • Supervision of annual implementation of programme of work and of the department
  • Partake in workshops, short courses, symposia and seminars
  • Make input in planning, designing and supervising the execution of departmental projects in the school
  • Participate in the preparation and implementation of the annual budget of the department
  • Make input in maintenance of the organization
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of quarterly and annual departmental reports to aid management decision making process

 

1.2 Assistant Trainers in:

1.2.1 Crop production and Agroforestry

Requirements

  • MSc Agronomy/Crop production
  • Minimum of 3 years (minimum of 5 years and 7 years for B.Sc and HND respectively) relevant job experience.

1.2.2 Animal/Livestock Production

Requirements

  • MSc Animal/Livestock production

1.2.3 Agricultural Economics/Extension

Requirements

1.2.4 Agricultural Engineering

Job Description

  • Report to and work closely with the Head of Department
  • Make input in the review and development of the training curriculum
  • Supervise attendants and trainees to ensure all departmental practical are thoroughly carried out.
  • Make input in maintenance of the school and LFN as an organization
  • Make input in the coordination of all training activities of the department
  • Make input in the preparation and implementation of departmental budgets
  • Make input in planning and designing of departmental programmes
  • Supervise trainees assignments and record books
  • Make input coordinating workshops, short courses, symposia and seminars.

 

1.3 Supervisors in:

1.3.1 Crop Production and Agroforestry

Requirements

  • MSc./ B.Agric. Agronomy/Crop Production
  • Minimum of 3 years (minimum 5 years for HND) relevant experience.

1.3.2 Animal/Livestock production

Requirements

  • BSc./ B.Agric Animal/Livestock Production
  • Minimum of 3 years (minimum 5 years for HND) relevant experience

1.3.3 Agric Economics/ Extension

Requirements

  • BSc./ B.Agric Agric. Economics/Extension
  • Minimum of 3 years (minimum 5 years for HND) relevant experience

1.3.4 Agricultural Engineering

Requirements

  • BSc./ B.Agric (Agic. Engineering)
  • Minimum of 3 years (minimum 5 years for HND) relevant experience.

Job Description

  • Report to and work closely with the Head of Department
  • Assist Trainers and Assistant Trainers in class and field programmes
  • Make input and supervise review and development of training curriculum
  • Supervise Trainee’s Attendants to ensure all departmental practicals are thoroughly carried out
  • Make inputs in the maintenance of the school and LFN as an organization
  • Make input in the coordination of all training activities of the department
  • Make input in the preparation and implementation of the departmental budgets
  • Make input in planning, designing and supervision of departmental programmes
  • Make input and oversee workshops, shortcourses, symposia and seminars.

 

2.0 Finance and Administrative Department

  • Secretary

2.1 Secretary

Job Description

  • Reporting to the principal
  • Keeping and maintaining of confidential matters
  • Maintaining diaries, Organizing and servicing meetings, producing agendas & taking minutes and messages
  • Drafting and typing of memos and letters/dispatching of documents to destinations.
  • Keeping and safeguarding of trainees and staff data/files.
  • Compiling and producing trainees results
  • Procuring of some administrative stationeries
  • Teaching trainees Administration and Supervision in class
  • Managing databases
  • Assisting in recruiting, training and supervising junior staff
  • Handling of correspondences
  • Coordinating mail-shots and similar publicity tasks.
  • Attending to visitors and directing them appropriately, answering & referring inquiries.
  • Any other duties assigned by the principal from time to time

Requirements:

  • Interested candidate should possess HND/Bsc in secretarial studies/ sec. Admin or related field. Minimum of 3years experience.
  • The ideal candidate should be ready to work in any of our agricultural training Schools.

2.2 School Nurse

Job Description

  • Responsible for all health matters relating to staff and students.
  • Administering first aid care before taking serious cases to the hospital.
  • Liaise with the retained doctor to ensure proper treatment for staff and students in the school when necessary.
  • Ensuring appropriate drugs are available in the clinic
  • Keeping the clinic environment in an orderly manner.
  • Organizing and handling of health talk in the School
  • Overseeing and supervising environmental cleaning of the School compound as at when due.
  • Organizing and giving health talk on personal hygiene, family planning, STD and other health related matter.
  • Any other duties assigned by the principal.

Requirements:

  • Registered staff nurse with current license or evidence of renewal plus at least 3years post qualification experience.
  • The ideal candidate should be ready to work in any of our agricultural training Schools.

2.3 Cashier

Job Description

  • The Cashier/storekeeper reports to the School accountant
  • Managing all the cash transactions in their workplace
  • Maintaining daily account of the daily transactions
  • Balancing the daily petty cash account at the end of each day
  • Checking the daily petty cash balance
  • Solving all cash related queries
  • Organizing all the work they do and maintaining the accounting records
  • Reporting discrepancies they find within the accounts to their superiors
  • Making daily, weekly and monthly transaction reports
  • Disbursing and recording of petty cash transactions.
  • Prompt banking of all sales
  • Adequate receipting of all sales and copies to all relevant departments.
  • To exercise general control over all activities in Stores Department
  • To ensure safe keeping both as to quality and quantity of materials.
  • To maintain proper records of all materials in the store.
  • To initiate purchase requisitions for the replacement of stock of all regular stores items whenever the stock level of any item of store approaches the minimum limit fixed in respect thereof.
  • To check and receive purchased materials forwarded by the receiving department and to arrange for the storage in appropriate places.
  • To issue materials only in required quantities against authorized requisition notes/material lists.
  • To check the book balances, with the actual physical stock at frequent intervals by way of internal control over wrong issues, pilferage, etc.
  • To liaise with all departments as it affects their materials in and out of store.

Requirements:

  • National diploma in accounting, AAT, or any finance related discipline
  • The ideal candidate should be ready to work in any of our agricultural training Schools.

Note.

  1. Ability to speak the local language where the schools are located will be an added advantage
  2. Computer literacy is an advantage for all positions
