The graduation ceremony of the outgoing Trainees of the Leventis Agricultural Training School, Yaba, Abuja was held in the 13th of December 2018 within its school premises. The ceremony had in attendance the Executive Director of the Foundation, Dr. Hope Usieta, Directors from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, His Royal Highnesses Etsu of Yaba, Etsu of Kwali, Etsu of Sabo-Kuti, District Chiefs and other special guests of honour.
In the Principal’s opening speech, she welcomed everyone to the event marking the end of the 2018 training session of 81 Trainees (62 males and 19 females) who have gone through the one year free training in modern, sustainable and eco-friendly agriculture as an enabling tool to make them successful agripreneurs. She congratulated the graduands while encouraging them to continue to exhibit a high sense of responsibility, focus, discipline and hard work in their respective businesses they decide to venture into. She highlighted that in their course of training, the acquired skills in areas of agriculture include animal and livestock production, crop production and agroforestry, agricultural engineering and rural enterprise development. In her closing remarks, she encouraged them to ensure that they put the immense knowledge into practice on return to their various communities.
The Honorable Secretary, Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, Hon. Nzekwe Stanley Ifeanyichukwu represented by Dr. Nkem congratulated the graduands for the successful completion of the training programme. She urged them to take on at least an aspect of agriculture in other to increase the food production capacity within the country and in turn improve their livelihood.
Finally, in the Chairman’s speech presented by the Executive Director, Dr. Hope Usieta, he encourages the outgoing Trainees to become productive putting to practice the knowledge acquired from the Training School and wish them success.
