In celebration of World Food Day (WFD), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in partnership with Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) and other development agencies including the Leventis Foundation Nigeria (LFN) had an awareness walk as part of events to mark the World Food Day. This year’s celebration is targeted towards Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SDG-2) tagged “ZERO HUNGER” by the year 2030.
The World Food Day promotes worldwide knowledge and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all.
In his speech, the Country Director of FAO highlighted the issues that can contribute to sufficient food production. He mentioned that capacity building for farmers, inclusive policy making, transportation and quality control measures can enhance increased food production.
