In 1996, the Kano State Government approached the Foundation with a request to establish an Agricultural Training School in the state on a joint-venture basis. The MOU was signed in 1998 and the school became operational that same year.

The school is established on the premises of the former ‘Animal Traction Training Institute’ in Panda village of Albasu Local Government Area of Kano State. It is located at a distance of about 356km from Abuja and 80km south-east of Kano municipal, along Kano-Maiduguri highway. The School has about 150 hectares of arable farmland with 10 hectares of irrigated farmland/fadama for demonstration and training. This allows the School to crop all through the year.

The School is located in an agro-ecological zone with an annual rainfall of between 500mm and 600mm during a mono-modal period from May to October, allowing for one rainfed cropping season although dry season farming is prominent between November and April.

The terrain is flat with sandy-loam soil, which is suitable for the production of the main agricultural crops grown in the semi-arid savanna region of Nigeria. Examples of such crops include; millet, sorghum, maize, groundnut, soybean, cowpea, wheat (in fadama) etc. Cattle, sheep and goats are the major livestock kept by the school.
