The closing ceremony for the N2 Africa intervention programme to train youths from Borno State was held on the 28th of August, 2017 in Panda School’s training centre while that of Tumu took place on the 29th August, 2017.
Seventy-one (71) youths made up of 28 males and 43 females graduated at the events after a one-month intensive training in sustainable agricultural practices in both schools.
In attendance at the events were Dr. Nkeki Kamai (The country coordinator N2 Africa/Borno Project), Dr. Hope Usieta (Executive Director, Leventis Foundation Nigeria), Mr Felix Obinyan (General Manager, Leventis Foundation Nigeria), Mr. Quadri Shakiru (Agripreneur Facilitator, IITA), Mallam Mustapha (Deputy Director, Borno State Agricultural Development Programme), Mallam Turaki Hashim (Principal, Leventis foundation Training School, Panda, Kano State) and Mallam Mohammed Hamza (Principal, Leventis Foundation Training School, Tumu, Gombe State).
The major highlights of the events were the presentation of Certificates, N2 Africa ID Cards and Awards. The N2 Africa Country Coordinator in person of Dr. Nkeki Kamai announced the following extra benefits which included the following:
i. certificate of business registration with the Cooperate Affairs Commission (CAC)
ii. establishment of business account with a commercial bank for cooperate business transactions
iii. a starter pack of four hundred and fifty thousand naira (N450,000 ) for the beneficiaries of the programme
iv. regular monitoring and mentoring services for the ex-trainees.
In his closing remarks, he stated that a strategic partnership between N2 Africa and Leventis Foundation Nigeria is ongoing to establish and manage a Model Leventis Agricultural Training School in Borno State.
