Graduation Ceremony of Leventis Foundation Nigeria Agricultural Training Schools

Trainees from the Leventis Foundation Nigeria Agricultural Training Schools located in Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, Gombe and Ilesa respectively, who commenced their training 11 months ago (which is 80% practical and 20% theory) graduated from the different Schools December, 2017. The Agricultural Training School have recorded landmark successes such as structural upgrade, trainer and trainees welfare e.t.c.

Present at the events were dignitaries such as Hon. Nzekwe Ifeayichukwu Stanley ( Honorable Secretary, FCT ARDS), Dr. Hope Usieta (Executive Director, Leventis Foundation Nigeria), Ona of Abaji, Etsu of Yaba, Etsu of Kwali, Etsu of Wako, Etsu of Kuti-Sabo, Dr. Nelson Abila (Agribusiness Specialist, UNDP) and other distinguished guests e.t.c.

In the year 2017, Leventis Foundation Agricultural Training School trained 83 participants in short courses and were able to train a cummulative total of 570 trainees in the 1 year training in sustainable agriculture across Nigeria.

The Executive Director from his Speech at the Leventis Foundation (Nigeria)) Training School, Yaba, Abuja graduation emphasized that agriculture has shifted from the current trend where the focus is primarily on production of raw products alone to a chain of activities comprising of commercialization at levels of the value chains. The Foundation’s training programmes in the future will be targeted at capturing all these levels of the food value chain. In his remarks, he reminded all guests that Leventis Foundation (Nigeria) agricultural schools are meant to attract youths into agriculture as well as train and support them to adopt improved eco-friendly farming practices and technology aimed at increasing the nations food basket and sustainable livelihood for the farmer.
