Leventis Foundation (Nigeria) commenced the celebration of its 30th anniversary on the 30th of October, 2018 within its office complex with an agricultural exhibition by Ex-trainees, Present trainees and partner organizations. The organization showcased the impact it has made towards agricultural revolution in the country through trained farmers by the Foundation’s training schools all over the country.
In the Chairman’s speech, he welcomed all exhibitors and guests to the Exhibition. He reminded everyone present the importance of agriculture in the development of the nation as it serves as a source of food and revenue. In addition, he said apart from marking the 30th anniversary, another aim of the exhibition is to create a platform where agricultural stakeholders can network. He stated that Foundation is a non-governmental organization that has been running agricultural training for youths and farmers in collaboration with state governments in sustainable agricultural methods since 1988 and currently has six schools lacated in the FCT, Osun, Ondo, Kaduna, Kano and Gombe states has trained over 25,000 young farmers through the organization’s training programmes in crop production and agroforestry, animal and animal and livestock production, rural enterprise development and agricultural engineering which is free of all costs.
In conclusion, he said the training is 80% practical which is geared at empowering farmers to create a source of livelihood for themselves and become employers of labour.
Finally, he encouraged everyone present to continue to contribute their quota to the development of agriculture in Nigeria and declared the Agricultural Exhibition opened.
